Oh what a semester…

Its finally wrapping up now :), tomorrow I’ve got a 3 hour long interview with CEHD student services for an advising position that I am super excited about it and have a good feeling… who knows I may be the next Prospective Transfer Student Adviser and Admissions Coordinator for CEHD Student Services!

I’m also looking at new apartments on Tuesday… so far I’m digging this place http://www.hiawathaflats.com and if I get this new position I’m totally going to live there… even if I don’t I’m totally going to live there, just need to make sure I start pinching pennies where needed 🙂

Flag waving and fireworks… What about the Constitution?

Yesterday the U.S. celebrated its 234th birthday in usual fashion the citizens of this country cooked out, held parties, went to parades, waved their flags and set off fireworks.  Independence Day used to be one of my favorite Summer holidays (not just because it was my maternal grandmother’s birthday) but because I genuinely felt excited to be a citizen of this country.   Now that I’m a much older and more cynical adult (who has a firmer grasp on politics and history) I am beginning to wonder if we (the U.S. as a whole) have strayed from the core principles and values put forth our founding documents?  I think from what we’ve seen in recent years that many would agree that we’ve seen a diminishing liberties and rights in this country. We’ve seen numerous abuses of power committed by all three branches of government, corporations have been allowed to run rough shot over the rights of U.S. citizens (including the billions in bailout money subsidized by the taxpayer), the parties (on both sides) have lost their senses in favor of electoral politics and we’ve seen an sudden increase in fanaticism by so called “conservatives” with the invention of the modern day “Tea Parties”. While I personally don’t agree with their incoherent and sometimes racist/homophobic/and even sexist philosophies, I can understand why they are angry. We as citizens of the U.S. have been duped into believing that those currently in government know what they are doing, in reality they are so bent on power and control that they’ve lost all common sense and have been corrupted by corporate entities that don’t necessarily have this country’s best interests in mind all they see is $$$ (x6).

A couple of question have been rambling about my brain as of late: How do we really fix this?  Is it even fixable? Or are we doomed to fall apart in 500 years like the great empires of the past? I personally don’t have the answer to any of these questions, I wish I did.  We probably won’t see any real change until we’ve taken back our institutions from the abusers, the nut ball fringe and large multi-national corporate interests.   Until then if you all have ideas that  you’d like to float feel free to leave’em in the comment section!

Why do all the hot young politicos gotta be evil?

Well now you all know my shameful secret… I have the hots for a young Republican congress critter… Rep. Aaron Schock from IL.   I’m sure you have all seen this photo of him shirtless back when he first got elected to office

Hello Abs!

… he almost made me want to move to his district just so I could vote for him! But now that I have come back to my senses, I realized that while he is definitely some political eye candy, he’s still evil (in the sense that he’s affiliated with a party that like to hate on the gays).  After doing some vote history fact checking I found that he voted against both the Matthew Shepard Act and the DADT repeal. Its sad that evil people like this get all the good looks 😦 and apparently his time in Washington only made him hotter to look at but more loathsome, I found a more recent picture of him as I was going through my morning ritual of filing through the RSS feeds of my blogs and stumbled upon this photo form Joe.My.God. (JMG) apparently time has only made him hotter, however here’s a bit of advice Rep. Schock, that outfit… doesn’t do a thing to help your straight image (see below):

Rep. Schock at a White House picnic with I am guess his folks (or constituents?)

I mean common loose the picnic blanket of a shirt and you’d be ready for the White Party (no I mean the gay one)!

UPDATE: It seems that Rep. Schock noticed that the new picture (at left) of him went viral. In a twitter update a few days ago Rep. Schock made note that this pic of him went viral.  According to the update he “learned his lesson” and “burned the belt”.  Um Congressman… it wasn’t the belt trust me.
